Messages from our Principals
  • General Principal

    Zhengjing Dong

Having been an educator for more than 40 years, I have always dreamed of setting up an international school that respects the principles of education, stresses all-round development of students, and offers small class sizes and individualised and diverse instruction. With the founding of Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science, the dream I have cherished for decades has finally become a reality.

I hope pupils of our school will develop the following qualities:

    A command of foreign languages
Being able to speak a foreign language opens the door to the outside world. It is the foundation of international competitiveness.

    Integration of arts and science
Our pupils will combine the spirit of science and the spirit of humanism across their studies.

    Mental and physical harmony
Harmony is a key element in traditional Chinese culture. An individual can take responsibility only when he or she has both a healthy body and an independent mind.

    The development of individual interests
We encourage creative innovation, bold thinking and the development of character in our pupils.

I hope that through their academic studies and co-curricular activities, pupils at Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science are inspired to find goals that they pursue with lasting passion and deep conviction, pursuits that lead them to happy and joyful lives.

I believe in the power of dreams, and I hope that Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science can become a high-quality school oriented by cultivating students' ability, integrating Chinese and international cultures, which prepares students for the future. I believe in the power of anticipation, in our culture of encouragement and trustworthy relationship between students and teachers, through which I hope we can inspire joyful learning. I believe that enrichment leads to selectivity and selectivity leads to individuality. Building a diversified curriculum is our unalterable education philosophy. I believe that the healthy growth of children requires the joint efforts of families, schools and the larger community. Building a good home-school cooperation and community partnership is essential to our work. I believe that international schools in China should make great efforts to integrate the best of Chinese and international education to create the campus atmosphere of Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science, which is the guarantee of our school’s high quality.

Since joining Dipont Education in 2008, I have witnessed the design and development of this innovative school throughout the years. Our students today will face a complex and ever-changing world in the future. T The high degree of uncertainty makes it imperative for us as educators to consider how to cultivate transferable knowledge, skills, and competencies that our students will need in the era of artificial intelligence and information technology. As the newly appointed Executive Principal, I will lead our entire faculty and staff to adhere to the founding mission of "establishing a future-oriented internationalized school" set by school board of governance ten years ago, uphold the "inheritance and exploration" development approach set at school five-year anniversary, and focus on the educational strategy of "supporting individual growth for excellence through holistic education." We will employ an international faculty team, optimize the processes and methods of international education, strengthen the academic outcomes and educational goals of international education, enhance the experience of international education for students and parents. With unwavering confidence, we will position ourselves in Wuxi and aim at the Yangtze River Delta region to build a private school that integrates multiculturalism and is highly internationalized. As someone who has benefited from international education, studying abroad has changed my education and life, enabling me to help more students pursue their dreams of international education. Every individual's passion for a profession is rooted in their own sense of mission, and my mission is to protect this campus and ensure every child benefits from international education and ultimately fulfill their dreams for overseas studies.

  • Director General

    Brendan Law

After 35 years’ experience, school life still thrills me like my first day: nothing gives me greater pleasure than to see youngsters thrive, delighting in achievement at all ages and levels of ability, in mind, body and spirit. Success and enjoyment go hand in hand: provide them with a happy, stimulating, high quality environment and they will flourish. First class academic education should be delivered by enthusiastic, dedicated, supportive staff, who are specialists at every level. With an emphasis on the individual, a wealth of opportunities should allow pupils to explore the full range of their talents, within a caring environment, which aims to encourage rather than persuade. Our faith in children becomes the self-belief that they take with them when they leave.

I am therefore particularly thrilled to have been appointed as Director General of this wonderful community: Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science has a bold, forward thinking set of goals, aligned fully with the above statements. It is an honour and a privilege to have joined a team that is already delivering innovation in the classroom and to know that, together, we are on an extraordinary journey to break new ground in K-12 education in China. We insist on our children coming first in everything that we do: they are empowered to be creative, innovative and to think for themselves; as colleagues, we are provided with world class educational tools, and ongoing, first class professional development… together, we are a community of lifelong learners aspiring for excellence in every aspect of school life, in and out of the classroom. Our extensive academic curricula and co-curricular programmes have breadth and depth to rival the best in the world; personalised wellbeing and pastoral care opportunities, including boarding, are at the forefront of our values, ensuring a close-knit family atmosphere throughout our beautiful campus. But don’t just take my word for it, please come along for a personal visit: you can be sure of a very warm welcome!

    Mike Hindle

    Hello!

I would like to offer you a very warm welcome to King’s College International School, Wuxi. My name is Mike Hindle and I am extremely proud and privileged to be the Head of our wonderful school.

I have moved to China from Doha, Qatar and previously from the UK, where I have over 25 years’ experience of teaching and school leadership in a wide variety of settings. I have provided educational consultancy, school improvement advice, training and CPD to schools world-wide.

Here at KCIS we teach our students through the highly respected British Curriculum, providing a solid basis to allow your child to continue their education anywhere in the world once they leave us. We place our students at the heart of everything we do. We aim not only to prepare our children for adult life in an ever-changing world, but to ensure that their childhood is as wonderful as it can possibly be. My belief is that our children get only one chance at childhood, and as educators (and parents) we have a clear opportunity and responsibility to make that time a happy, safe and wondrous journey of discovery and learning.

It is widely known that children learn best when they feel happy, safe, calm, motivated, challenged and supported, and are provided with excellent role-models. At KCIS all staff know that our community of learners can only flourish to reach their highest potential in a dynamic and stimulating learning environment where they feel safe, secure and happy; where they are surrounded by caring and talented staff; where mutual respect and the highest standards of behaviour and manners are non-negotiable and where all members of our community have a voice that is heard and celebrated.

We care about each and every one of our students as individuals and we place tremendous value on the role that parents have to play in an active partnership with school, ensuring that your children reach the highest possible standards of academic success, as well as physical, emotional, cultural and social awareness and development. Our fantastic team at KCIS will facilitate and empower your children not only to be excellent communicators with high levels of literacy, numeracy, scientific understanding and digital mastery, but to develop curiosity in the world; to be problem solvers and creative thinkers with global awareness.

All of us at KCIS take huge pride in all aspects of our school and we are committed to ensuring that we become recognised as one of the leading international schools in China.
