Musician
On Tuesday and Wednesday, 22-23 November 2022 King's College International School, Wuxi held the 4th annual Young Musician of the Year competition final. Over 150 students auditioned in the opening rounds and this year saw two live finals, with ten Primary and eight Secondary students competing for the Young Musician of the Year 2022 title.
The final was hosted by Ms. YiXuan Chen and Mr. Kenny Taylor of the Primary Expressive Arts Department alongside the other music teachers, special guests, Ms. Sophia Morling, Ms. Zhu Hong and Mr. Mike Hindle, who judged the performances.
In addition to the solo performances, the audience were treated to fantastic performances by Mr. Taylor (Primary Music Teacher) and last year’s Secondary winner Kevin Ma.

We are delighted to announce in the Primary competition, 3rd place to went Miso Lee from International 4B who played The Buccaneer by Malcolm Arnold on piano. 2nd place went to Katie Shen from Bil5B who played El Choclo Tango on violin. 1st place went to Albert Liu from Bil5B who played 骑士 《钢琴进阶练习 25首》0p.100，第25首 on piano.
In the Secondary competition, 3rd place went to Arvin Luan from 8B who played Tarantella on piano. 2nd place went to Eileen Gao from 11D who played Violin Concerto in E minor on violin. 1st place went to Lillian Tang from 7C who played The Cat and the Mouse by Scherzo Humoristique on piano.

The competition has grown over the last four years. Each year, the level of competition has increased, and we are proud of all the students who entered. Everyone demonstrated a great deal of courage and confidence by performing in front of their peers, staff, and families. We would like to thank all the staff in their encouragement and support of the students during the competition and the parents who continue to support their children throughout their musical journey. We look forward to next year’s competition and hope to see even more students enter in their bid to be crowned Young Musician of the Year 2023.
