Pastoral Care: The Oasis Room

The Oasis Room

At KCIS, emphasis is placed on student wellbeing, recognising that academic success and social-emotional development are inextricably linked. This year, a space designed to provide students with a safe and supportive environment has been created: The Oasis Room.

The Oasis Room is a space where students can receive care and support for their wellbeing. The room has been designed to be a warm, welcoming and calming space. It is a place where students can come to take a break from the stresses of their academic work and the social pressures of their school environment.

As a student support facility, The Oasis Room embraces KCIS's inclusive and restorative approach to student wellbeing. Rather than simply providing students with a place to unwind, the goal is to use the space to help students build resilience and coping skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.

In the Oasis Room, we offer a range of support services, including counselling, mindfulness practices, and tailored support programmes. By creating a space where students feel safe and supported, they are able to build meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers, which can be an important source of support during difficult times.

The Oasis Room provides a private and confidential space where students can discuss their concerns with a trusted adult, whether it's related to academic performance, social relationships, or mental health. Together, the student and adult can develop an action plan that addresses the student's individual needs and goals.

By providing a designated space where students can receive individualised support and attention, students can feel seen and heard, while nurturing the tools they need to succeed academically and socially.

Ultimately, The Oasis Room is a vital resource for our school as we strive to support the holistic wellbeing of our students. By embracing an inclusive and restorative approach to student wellbeing, we aim to create a culture that values emotional intelligence and fosters the growth of resilient and empowered young people.
