Academic Assistant Head for the Secondary

Dear Parents and Students:

I hope you all have had a lovely summer break and are excited for the academic year ahead.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to write my first letter as the new Assistant Head of Academics in the Junior High school. Having been at the school since the beginning it has been a privilege to witness our students grow and progress and to develop alongside them. I feel extremely honoured to be a part of the vibrant community here at KCIS and am looking forward to collaborating with our committed staff, our wonderful students and our supportive parents to foster an environment where everyone can flourish.

'Education is the foundation upon which we build our future' and we are very fortunate to have a strong foundation here at KCIS. I am committed to working alongside our current staff to build upon the framework to ensure that our students receive the education and support that will equip them to succeed in the future and reach their full potential.

I will be working closely with the teachers to ensure that the quality of teaching and learning is maintained and built upon in the coming year. We will continue to build and refine our Curriculum to ensure it is ambitious for all, that it is broad, balanced  and develops key skills like resilience and a growth mindset. My aim for academic excellence is simple: to improve progress measures of all students progressing into Secondary and being better preparing them for the world of work when they leave us. Alongside the pursuit of academic excellence, we have a role in ensuring our students are equipped to thrive in an everchanging world. We will continue to adopt progressive methodologies incorporating technology and skills-based learning techniques to prepare them best we can for the future.

I firmly believe that once we become parents, we become educators and parental involvement is the key to any student’s success in school. I hope that by working together and having open communication we can create an inspiring, nurturing and safe environment where our students can flourish.

Once again, I wish to convey how excited I am to embark on this new role and the opportunities that this holds for all of us as a community. Let us strive to build on the excellent foundations to achieve higher standards in every aspect of our wonderful KCIS community.

Warm Regards

Oswald Mason
