This year’s NKCS Primary Spelling Bee filled our school with excitement from start to finish! Over eight busy weeks, students from every grade stepped up with confidence, enthusiasm, and huge smiles as they worked their way from class competitions all the way to the big finals.

The Bee wasn’t just about spelling tricky words — it was about celebrating effort, teamwork, and personal achievement. Students challenged themselves, learned new vocabulary, and discovered just how much they could accomplish with practice and determination. Whether they were on stage spelling in front of an audience or cheering on their classmates, every participant brought wonderful energy to the event.

We are incredibly proud of all our spellers for their hard work, courage, and positive attitudes. Their enjoyment and achievements made this year’s Spelling Bee a true highlight of the English Department during Semester One!

Knowledge

● Word Understanding : Students showed they can break down new words by knowing their roots, prefixes, and suffixes.

● Sounding Out Words : They used strong phonics skills, recognising sounds, stress, and spelling patterns to spell tricky words.

Competence

● Staying Calm : Students stayed focused and calm on stage, even when the pressure was high.

● Smart Strategies : They used the rules well — asking for definitions, pronunciations, or word origins to help them spell confidently.

Skills

● Resilience & Kindness : Students showed maturity by handling both wins and elimination with a positive attitude and by cheering for others.

● Clear Communication : They spelled with clear voices, confident posture, and strong enunciation so the judges and audience could hear every letter.
